BOARDLINKSTL, an unprecedented program for the St. Louis region, matches individuals who want to serve on boards with nonprofit board openings that are just the right fit. Light years beyond the scope of a typical board bank, BoardLinkStL couples monthly Readiness Workshops with a sophisticated online matching service. By providing strategic board recruitment and development, BoardLinkStL fills a void in capacity building services for the entire St. Louis bi-state metropolitan nonprofit community.
According to a national survey, nonprofits seeking board members often lack the resources needed to recruit individuals or to adequately prepare new board members; and individuals, motivated to serve, do not know where to find organizations that are a good fit. BoardLinkStL is a centralized, high-tech access point—think Google meets Match.com—for enhancing nonprofit board governance in the St. Louis region. Minimal one-time fees are charged to participating individuals and nonprofits to assist with operating expenses. Scholarships are available to those in financial need.
As a community partner, you can foster and facilitate nonprofit board service by hosting a training session, encouraging your employees or members to sign up, or by underwriting scholarships.
The BoardLinkStL online board matching service was launched in 2005 as a way to strategically fill the multitude of open nonprofit board positions throughout the region. The service is provided as part of the mission work of regional nonprofit alliance members including FOCUS St. Louis, which operate collaboratively to manage BoardLinkStL.
