What qualities do you expect to see in a highly effective leader?
Intelligence, passion about service to and for people, a willingness to work untiringly, and I suppose that’s part of the passion too for the good cause of people, a fair minded person, a person who’s pretty balanced in terms of their knowledge, their perspective, a willingness to have ones vision and understanding broaden, because I think we tend to come from a particular mold and many of us to never get beyond that unless we’re able to mix with different people and hear different ideas and kind of look at the pros and cons of particular problems and put ourselves in other person’s shoes. So it’s been my, at least those are the qualities that I look for. I look for someone who is tough, who is willing to speak the truth with love and is willing to grow himself or herself and then give others the opportunity to grow. I look for somebody who can be a part of the team for whatever purpose that we’re working toward. Rev. Emery Washington (1 min. 28 sec.)
